Website Design Mistakes – 10 Ways to Piss Off New Prospects with Your Website
Posted By Eric Gruber, Your Article Marketing ExpertSo, you’ve spent all kinds of money and time doing all that “stuff” you need to do that gets visitors beating down your website’s front door. But, when you check your Google Analytics you learn they’re only staying a few seconds. And
they’re NOT coming back.
Meanwhile, your list hasn’t grown AT ALL. No one is commenting on your blog. The products you have sitting on your shelves are… still sitting there. Your coaching program could really use some fresh blood. All your money you’ve spent on SEO and traffic generation hasn’t translated into a single additional penny in your bank account.
*Look:* I bet there’s something about your website that’s pissing people off.
Here are the top ten things that piss ME off when I visit someone’s website…could someone be saying these things about YOUR website?
1. “The entire website is built in Flash. Ack – another Flash site! Sheesh! So I have to sit here forever waiting for it to load… where’s the Skip Intro’ button so I can get past this crap?”
2. “When I load the site, annoying ‘royalty free’ music ‘greets’ me and I can’t find the ’stop’ button! I had to shut my browser off!”
3. “While your site is loading, five different pop-ups, pop-overs, pop-unders, exit-pops, Pop-Go-The-Weasels clog my entire desktop. AAAAGHHH! Am I getting viruses?”
4. “I see three different places where you want me to enter my name and e-mail address. Why? And what’s the difference between each? This is confusing.”
5. “So, I opted in to get your special report. Then I had to go check my email to click a link. Then, after I clicked the link, I was taken to a webpage and told to check my email AGAIN for ANOTHER link. Listen – I gave you my name and e-mail address, do you need my firstborn child too? For a lousy 3-page PDF or 75-second video?”
6. “When I look at the menu bar, I see 20 different links. OK… thanks for sharing… EVERYTHING… so where do I begin? Can someone please tell me where to find what I need? I’d LIKE to buy from you, but…”
7. Unnecessary information that doesn’t lead to an opt-in or sale. I’m THRILLED that your home office has all-new software. Congratulations. Where do I learn how your products and solutions will solve my problems and make my dreams come true?”
8. “I’ve been reading this site for 10 minutes now, and I STILL have noidea what, exactly, it is that you do. Why am I still here?”
9. “That’s a nice… store-bought template you’re using for your website here, that you didn’t at least customize to match your brand. Are your ‘personalized solutions’ also store-bought templates?”
10. “Real quick – I’m ready to buy but I have a question. Do you have a phone number? Or an e-mail address? I can’t find it! I’ve researched 50-page term papers in less time…”
*Listen:* could someone be saying even ONE of these about your website? How does it sound? Do you think it’s time to fix your website design mistakes. Read below to find out how…
