Article Writing Question — Do You Really Know Who Your Targeted Audience Is?
In their newsletter at ReporterConnection.com, Bill and Steve Harrison mentioned — ”If you don’t know who your audience is, how can you sell it anything?”
Guess what? When you write and submit articles online you are selling — whether or not you’re promoting a product. You are selling yourself as an expert who understands your prospects specific needs.
So, as Bill and Steve says — a fitness trainer saying that his market is overweight people is not specific enough. Is it overweight men or women? By how much are they overweight? How old are they? What are their biggest challenges? What are their hopes for the future?
Ask yourself these type of questions to find and describe your ideal audience.Once you’re able to completely define who your targeted audience is — it will become much easier to write articles that instantly connect with your audience.

Before you figure out your target market, you must be very clear on what you believe your expertise is, especially if you are a speaker and trainer. Previously, I was writing random articles–then two friends said, “Kathy, how do these articles relate to improving communication, your area of expertise?”
Now it is no problem to make any experience into a article reflecting on a communication issue.
