I know what you are thinking — “Eric, what the h#$! are you doing watching day time talk shows?”

In between helping clients improve their linkedin marketing at http://www.getlinkedinhelp.com, my wife occasionally likes to relax and watch these talk shows. So I get stuck listening to it.But, this time it really caught my eye as they were making over those who like to reveal too much of their bodies. It’s amazing what the fashion and beauty makeover artists can do.

Now, as I watched the show, I started to think how we can use these “makeover” shows to create a “makeover” instant article writing template.

The Makeover Instant Article Writing Template Explained in Detail…

1. In these makeover shows, the talk show host always show a before picture and have a guest explain why their family member or friend desperately needs a makeover. They explain the situation in detail. So, in your articles take the first part to describe the “before” situation for one of your clients. Paint a picture in our heads as we don’t have a visual picture like they do on T.V.

2. Once the host shows the before picture and talks to the guest – they invite the guest who received the makeover to come out from behind closed doors. They then compare a before and after picture. So, the next step of the “makeover” article, you show the positive effects of your work – and compare their “before” situation to the “after” situation.

3. The last thing they do during these “makeover” shows is have the beauty and fashion experts come out and reveal what they did and why. Now, in the above section, you made a connection by telling a story about a “before” situation that prospects can connect too. You gained credibility by showing results and how you helped your client. Now, the next step – is to give some takeaway tips and information. This way you add informational value so publishers will want to publish your article.

One of my website copy writing clients, Skip Weisman at http://www.workplacecommunicationsexpert.com recently told me that he has potential clients coming to him all the time asking if he can help their teams improve their customer service and sales skills. But after analyzing the company and their situation, Skip usually finds that the real problem is the management’s inability to effectively reach out, engage, and motivate employees.

Now, go to http://www.workplacecommunicationexpert.com/ and see  how I use this bit of information to immediately change his prospects’ mindset on what they need to work on. After viewing his website, he emailed me asking if he should create an article entitled: “Your Organization’s Problem is Not a Lack of Sales Skills – It’s Poor Workplace Communication!”

Here’s How You Can Create a Similar Article to Change Your Prospect’s Mindset

  • Start off by explaining that you understand why your readers are misled to believe their problem is something you are trying to convince them it isn’t. Point out the reasons why they believe they are right.
  • Then show your readers how they are wrong
  • Next, give reasons to prove that you know what the real problem is and why
  • Then, give some solutions to fix the real problem
  • Finally, show results of what can be achieved if they solve the real problem

I’m the article marketing expert and I still use article templates on a regular basis to create articles for my blog, for my newsletter and for article submissions. Here’s an article template  that I found on the EzineArticles.com blog.

The “Dear Abby” Article Template:

  1. Start With a Question – I love when my newsletter subscribers email me with a question. Instead of disregarding it and thinking, “if you want my answer then buy my products or pay for my consulting,” I use it as an opportunity to create more content. You may also want to create articles around the most common questions you receive on a daily basis.  Make sure you pose and answer questions that ask “Why” or “How” things work.
  2. Answer the Question Use a personable voice to answer the question and give the best advice you can on the situation. If you ever read a “Dear Abby” column, you will notice that she relates back to her own experiences. She tells a story and engages her audience.
  3. Add Another Question Now,  add additional questions that fit with the same theme. Use bolding, italics or other distinct labeling to distinguish between questions. You also want to make a clear transition between your answers and the next questions.
  4. Identify a Theme Once all questions you want to cover are answered, discuss the connections between each to wrap up the article. Then add a call-to-action that is closely tied to the problems you find or the mistakes you reveal. For example, if I was answering questions based on website conversions I may end the article this way: “The mistakes Person A, Person B and Person C made is costing them traffic, prospects and sales. I’m sure if they (and you) are making these mistakes then they are making the other website conversion mistakes found in my free special report at: http://www.14websiteconversionmistakes.com

Now, here’s your call-to-action:

As the New Year approaches, this is a perfect article writing template to try now. While everyone else will be focusing on New Years resolutions, I challenge you to take a new spin. We all know that New Years resolutions get broken – so give them New Year Actions.

1. Create a title like: 10 New Year Article Marketing Actions You Must Take Now If You Want to Build Your Online Business.

2. Create an intro that contains a scenario showing your prospects that they keep doing the same habits at the beginning of each year and failing. Be sure to tell them why they are failing. For this intro, you want to be able to tell a story – so prospects can connect with you.  To help you create this story, you should check out my online article writing course that includes a module on “Profitable Storytelling.” You can get this writing course at http://www.onlinearticlewritingcourse.com

3. List the actions you want your prospects to take.

4. Tell readers how to perform each action – and most importantly  why they need to take the action. The “WHY” is what gets readers to take action. Plus, if you give them too much of the “HOW” – you’re not giving readers a reason to go to your website.

5. End the article with successful results you clients have achieved by following your actions. This will help you build credibility plus it will drive readers to take immediate action. Once you move prospects and get them started, it will be easier for you to help them take the next step which should involve investing in your products or services.

Most customers look to products and services to do one of these three 3:

  1. Save them time
  2. Save them money
  3. Save them energy

For example, people invest in my instant article writing templates because it saves them time. Now they won’t have to sit and stare at the blank white screen on their computer anymore. They’ll be able to write their articles in 30 minutes or less – when most people normally spend hours on one single article or blog post. The templates save them energy because they won’t have to work as hard because they now have a format, structure and organization for their articles. They just have to plug in the information they have stored in their minds.

Now, the question is…how do you save your clients’ time, money and/or energy. Or, do you have another resource that’s highly coveted to your niche?

Today’s article template will help you focus on sharing your own “saving” techniques with your readers.

My New Saving “X” Article Template

  • Step 1: Pick a Resource That’s Important to Your Specific Audience –  Think about insights you can give to others on ways to save that resource.  From there, write a title that exemplifies the information you plan to share. For example, “How to Use Article Writing Templates That Will Save You From Hours of Writing.”
  • Step 2: Your Introduction – The introduction should make it clear exactly why your article is important and pull the reader into being interested in more. To do this effectively, you must share why it’s important to your audience that they “save” the resource you are writing about. And, you must let your readers know how your will help them save the defined resource.
  • Step 3: Develop Your Method(s) of Saving – Make a list of your tips or steps that you tell your clients to complete every single day.  This section should be formatted as a list to clearly break down the steps, just like I am doing in this article.
  • Step 4: Explain Why Your Method Works – Most people when they write articles, they put all their energy into explaining the “How.” But, if you give too much of the “how”, you give readers no reason to go to your website.  It’s the “Why” that gets readers to take immediate action.  So if you want to motivate prospects to take the actions you explain in your articles, you must tell them why it works and why they must implement the tips now.
  • Step 5: Spell Out the Benefits – Explain how the process can help. Share how your process is different from the conventional methods.
  • Conclude  by Providing Further Motivation to Take Instant Action– The conclusion should give a quick recap of the process(es). But most importantly, you should share actual, specific results that your clients have achieved by following the advice you reveal. Then tell them what the next step is…

Now, next time you go to write an article (hopefully today!) use this Saving “X” article template. Then, come and tell about your experience, or ask questions if you’re unsure how to proceed, in the comments section below.
